Single-layer strip shingles: the lightest and least expensive asphalt option.
Shingles, metal or rubber: which roof suits your house, and how each one handles a northeastern Pennsylvania winter.
Free ConsultationPerez Design-Build Remodel installs asphalt and composite shingles, metal roofing and rubber roofing for homeowners in Scranton, Clarks Summit and across northeastern Pennsylvania. Which is right depends on the pitch of the roof, the look of the house and how long you plan to stay in it, and our roofing crews walk you through the trade-offs at the consultation.
Single-layer strip shingles: the lightest and least expensive asphalt option.
Two or more laminated layers, thicker and heavier than three-tab, with the dimensional look of wood shakes.
Multi-layer architectural shingles made to look like slate or shake, and the longest-lasting asphalt option.
Standing-seam panels or metal shingles that look like shake or slate, in steel, aluminum, zinc or copper. Custom-made for the house, and one of the longest-lasting roofs you can buy.
For flat and low-slope roofs on homes and commercial buildings: durable, fire-resistant and built for temperature extremes.
In northeastern Pennsylvania, a roof carries snow for weeks and goes through freeze-thaw cycles all winter. The material matters, but so does what is under it: the deck, the ice protection at the eaves and the ventilation that keeps the attic cold.
Whichever material you choose, our crews install the whole system, and our carpenters repair the deck underneath where it needs it. We work within your target investment range during the design process, and once you sign the agreement, the price is guaranteed.

“In an area where contractors frequently say they will show up but don’t or don’t give you a quote or come and never get back to you, Perez did not do that. They consistently showed up when they said they were going to, gave us a quote that was reasonable even though it was higher than the rest.”
It depends on the pitch of the roof, the style of the house and how long you plan to stay. Shingles suit most pitched roofs, metal is the long-term option, and rubber is for flat and low-slope roofs. We go through the trade-offs at the consultation.
Three-tab shingles are a single layer and the least expensive. Architectural shingles are laminated in two or more layers, which makes them thicker and heavier and gives them a dimensional look.
If you plan to stay in the house a long time, often yes. Metal costs more up front and lasts far longer than asphalt, and it comes in shingle profiles as well as standing seam.
Rubber roofing, which is made for roofs that cannot shed water the way a pitched roof does.
It depends on the material, the size and pitch of the roof and what we find under the old one, so we start with a target investment range at the first conversation. The range moves as the design firms up. Once the design is finished and you sign the agreement, the price for your roof is guaranteed.
